At Go Low Carbon, we recognize the importance of aligning our business practices with ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible principles. As a company committed to delivering innovative renewable energy solutions, we take seriously our responsibility to ensure that all components used in our solar photovoltaic (PV) systems meet the highest standards of material provenance, human rights adherence, and ethical supply chain practice.
This report outlines our policy on the responsible procurement of solar PV units, detailing our rigorous evaluation process and our selection of DMEGC Solar as our supplier for the 2024-2025 period.
Our Commitment to Responsible Procurement
The integrity of our supply chain is critical to maintaining trust and delivering value to our clients. Go Low Carbon is firmly committed to sourcing solar PV units and related components in a manner that prioritizes transparency in material provenance, ensures adherence to human rights standards, and reflects best practices in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies.
Recent concerns have been raised within the renewable energy industry regarding the unethical sourcing of materials, particularly from regions such as the Uyghur Region of China, where allegations of forced labour and human rights abuses have surfaced. These concerns have prompted us to adopt a meticulous approach to vetting suppliers, with an emphasis on validating the claims made in their published statements.
Evaluation Process
Our evaluation process is conducted annually and involves a thorough review of industry-leading brands. This process includes an assessment of suppliers’ transparency in the sourcing of materials and their adherence to ethical labour practices. Specifically, we investigate claims related to modern slavery, forced labour, human rights, and sustainable operation.
To validate these claims, we reference credible academic studies and industry research. A key resource for this evaluation is Over Exposed: Uyghur Region Exposure, Assessment for Solar Industry Sourcing, authored by A. Crawford and L. Murphy, et.al of Sheffield Hallam University. This study provides a robust framework for assessing the risk of material exposure to the Uyghur Region, how it relates to a series of major PV unit manufacturers and serves as a cornerstone of our decision-making process.
Findings and 2024-2025 Supplier Selection
Following a comprehensive evaluation, Go Low Carbon has selected DMEGC Solar as our preferred manufacturer and supplier of solar PV units for the 2024-2025 period. DMEGC Solar has demonstrated an exceptional level of transparency in its supply chain, expressly documenting the provenance of all materials used in its PV units. Independent academic assessment models, including those cited in Over Exposed, confirm that DMEGC Solar’s components carry zero risk of exposure to the Uyghur Region.
This selection reflects our unwavering commitment to upholding ethical and sustainable practices within our procurement strategy.
Beyond Solar PV Units
Our commitment to ethical procurement extends beyond solar PV units to include all components of our installations, such as inverter technology, cabling, battery storage solutions, and mounting systems. While solar PV units are often subject to the highest levels of scrutiny due to the complexities of their supply chains, we apply the same rigorous due diligence to every element of our systems.
This comprehensive approach ensures that every aspect of the technology we deliver has been carefully vetted, providing our clients with systems they can trust to align with their values and expectations for ethical and sustainable operation.
Conclusion
At Go Low Carbon, we are dedicated to driving positive change in the renewable energy industry by championing ethical procurement practices and promoting transparency across our supply chains. Our selection of DMEGC Solar as our supplier for the 2024-2025 period underscores our commitment to sourcing materials responsibly and ensuring that human rights and sustainability remain at the forefront of our operations
Through annual evaluations, informed by credible academic research and industry insights, we continuously strive to improve our processes and uphold the highest standards of accountability. By doing so, we aim to deliver solutions that not only meet but exceed the ethical expectations of our clients and stakeholders.
This policy is effective from December 2024 and will be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance and effectiveness in meeting our company’s goals.
