What Is BEAS and Who It’s For 

• Who qualifies?
  Eligible businesses are small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 250 employees, operating in Coventry, Warwickshire, or the West Midlands Combined Authority area (Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, as well as Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, the Marches, and Warwickshire)

• Minimum energy usage: At least 25,000 kWh of energy (electricity and/or gas) per year 

• Eligible projects: Includes a broad range of energy-saving and efficiency measures—solar panel installations, LED lighting, heating upgrades, insulation, ventilation, refrigeration, water management, and even waste/recycling equipment  

• Grant details: Capital grants range from £1,000 up to £100,000, covering up to 50% of project costs  

How It Works 

1. Register online for a free energy assessment. 

1. Receive an onsite audit report, pinpointing opportunities for energy and carbon savings. 

1. Apply for the grant to fund half the cost of your proposed improvements—subject to eligibility and audit findings. 

Timelines: 

• Grant applications usually receive responses within about 72 hours. 

• Energy audits may take up to a month to arrange, with reports delivered in around 2–3 months. 

• Grant approval may take up to a further 3 months (longer for energy-intensive enterprises – up to 6 months in total)
